Why Service Is Important To IskaliAs part of the Iskali community, we have been deeply blessed by the kindness and generosity of others who have left a lasting impact on our lives. We believe that just as we have received, we are also called to give—to serve those most in need within our community and beyond. With St. Teresa of Calcutta as our patron in this mission, we embrace her wisdom: “Faith in action is love, and love in action is service.” Service Day is open to all. We welcome friends, family, and parish communities to join us in this mission of compassion. Together, we share our gifts, extend a helping hand, and continue building a community where faith, love, and service come alive. As Kiara Vásquez our Service & Community Partnership Coordinator beautifully reminds us: “Who are we to say no to God’s work?” |
How Service Days Typically Look:
Service days are a chance for us to live out our faith in both prayer and action. We begin with Mass, grounding the day in God’s presence. From there, we move into a community service event, where together we extend a helping hand to those in need. The day concludes with a time of reflection and lunch, giving us space to share experiences, grow in fellowship, and learn from one another. By intentionally including our parish communities, we not only serve but also strengthen the bonds of faith, compassion, and relationship that unite us.
